iTunes Releases

iTunes is still how many people restore, update, or downgrade an iPhone or iPad from a computer. This page lists the iTunes installers we host — 12.9 is the newest we carry for Windows and 12.8 the newest for macOS — along with the earlier releases people need when matching a specific IPSW firmware file to an older setup.

On macOS: Apple stopped publishing direct downloads after iTunes 12.8, moving later releases to the App Store on macOS Mojave. From macOS Catalina onward there is no iTunes at all — its jobs moved to the Music, Podcasts, and TV apps, and device backups and restores are handled in Finder. On Catalina or later, use Finder rather than looking for an iTunes installer.

On Windows: Apple still supports iTunes and also offers the newer Apple Devices app for syncing and restoring. The builds below are the ones we host for older systems and for restore workflows that need one specific version; for the current release, get iTunes or Apple Devices from Apple directly.
